Buying an Animal

How do I buy an animal from your farm?

Our general buying process is:

  1. Browse our available animals.
  1. Contact us about the animal you are interested in.
  1. Discuss the animal's characteristics, health, registration, and availability.
  1. Confirm the purchase price and terms.
  1. Pay the required 30% reservation deposit.
  1. We place the animal on hold for you.
  1. We coordinate final health records, documentation, and transportation if needed.
  1. The remaining 70% balance is paid before the animal leaves our farm.

How much is the reservation deposit?

Our standard reservation deposit is 30% of the animal's purchase price.

The remaining $3,500 is due before the animal leaves the farm unless different written terms have been agreed upon.

Is the reservation deposit refundable?

Yes, subject to our Refund & Return Policy.

If you cancel before pickup or delivery, 90% of the reservation deposit is refundable.

The remaining 10% is retained as a reservation and preparation fee.

Once the animal has been picked up or delivered, the purchase is generally non-refundable except as provided by the applicable Health Guarantee or law.

What happens if I change my mind after reserving an animal?

If you cancel before pickup or delivery, we generally refund 90% of your reservation deposit, with 10% retained as the reservation and preparation fee.

Once the animal has been picked up or delivered, we do not accept ordinary returns.

Our standard policy is a 30% reservation deposit followed by the remaining 70% before the animal leaves the farm.

If you need a different payment arrangement, please contact us before placing a reservation. Any alternative arrangement must be agreed upon in writing.

Can I reserve an animal without paying a deposit?

An animal is not considered officially reserved until the required reservation deposit has been received and accepted by the farm.

Until then, the animal may remain available to other buyers.

Animal Health

Are your animals healthy?

We make animal health a major priority.

Our animals receive species-appropriate care that may include:

  • Veterinary examinations
  • Vaccinations
  • Parasite monitoring
  • Hoof or foot care
  • Reproductive care
  • Disease testing where appropriate
  • Identification
  • Registration documentation where applicable

Health practices vary by species, age, and individual animal.

Do animals come with health records?

Yes. Available health records and applicable sale documentation are provided as part of the purchase process.

Depending on the animal, records may include vaccination history, veterinary information, testing results, identification, registration information, and transportation-related documentation when applicable.

Can I have the animal examined by my own veterinarian?

Yes. We encourage buyers to have their new animal examined by an independent licensed veterinarian.

For animals covered by our Health Guarantee, the veterinary examination must be completed within the timeframe specified in the guarantee.

Do you provide a health guarantee?

Yes. Eligible animals are covered by our written Health Guarantee.

The guarantee addresses applicable initial health concerns and certain serious congenital or genetic conditions, subject to its terms, time limits, veterinary documentation requirements, and exclusions.

The Health Guarantee does not replace ongoing veterinary care.

What is excluded from the health guarantee?

The Health Guarantee does not generally cover problems caused by circumstances after the animal has been transferred to the buyer, such as:

  • Injury
  • Improper nutrition
  • Inadequate housing
  • Neglect
  • Failure to provide veterinary care
  • Environmental conditions
  • Improper husbandry
  • Other conditions specifically excluded by the written guarantee

Farm Pickup

Where do I pick up my animal?

Farm pickup is available at our farm in Waleska, Georgia, by appointment.

Can I pick up my animal immediately after purchasing it?

Not necessarily.

We need to confirm that:

  • Required health documentation is available
  • Transportation is appropriate
  • Any applicable veterinary or regulatory requirements have been addressed

Pickup dates should be scheduled with the farm in advance.

What should I bring when picking up my animal?

Your transportation should be appropriate for the species, animal size, weather, and travel distance.

Depending on the animal, you may need:

  • Safe livestock trailer or vehicle
  • Appropriate bedding
  • Water
  • Feed or hay for longer trips
  • Secure partitions
  • Appropriate loading equipment

We can discuss preparation before pickup.

Preparing for Your New Animal

What should I prepare before my animal arrives?

Before bringing an animal home, make sure you have:

  • Safe fencing
  • Appropriate shelter
  • Clean water
  • Appropriate feed and forage
  • Species-appropriate companions
  • A safe area for introduction and observation
  • Veterinary care available
  • Appropriate equipment for handling

For a new arrival, it is also wise to prepare a quiet area where the animal can settle in and be observed.

Should I quarantine a new animal?

Quarantine recommendations depend on the species, existing herd, health status, and veterinary advice.

If you already own livestock, speak with your veterinarian about an appropriate quarantine and introduction plan before bringing a new animal onto your property.

What veterinarian should I use?

We recommend establishing a relationship with a veterinarian experienced with the species you purchase.

Large-animal and livestock veterinary care can be very different from standard small-animal pet care.

Yes. Contact us and tell us what you are looking for.

Providing details such as species, sex, age, color, registration, intended use, and budget can help us understand what may be a good fit.

Buying From Out of State

What paperwork do I need to buy an animal from Georgia?

We will work with the buyer and veterinarian on applicable requirements.

Final Questions

Do you guarantee the exact adult size of a miniature animal?

No.

We provide honest information about the animal's current age, size, parents, genetics, and expected characteristics when available, but mature size can vary.

We do not guarantee a specific adult height or weight unless expressly stated in writing.

Do you guarantee an animal's future breeding ability?

No general guarantee of future breeding performance is made unless specifically covered by a written agreement or Health Guarantee.

Breeding outcomes depend on genetics, management, nutrition, veterinary care, reproductive health, timing, and other factors.

Do you guarantee temperament?

We provide our honest assessment of an animal's temperament and handling history.

However, temperament can change with age, environment, handling, training, hormones, herd dynamics, and management.

No particular future temperament is guaranteed unless specifically stated in writing.

What happens if I cannot keep my animal later?

Please contact us before making any decision.

We care about the long-term placement of animals we sell and would rather communicate with a buyer about a difficult situation than have an animal placed somewhere inappropriate.

Any future transfer, resale, return, or rehoming arrangement must be discussed with the farm and may be subject to separate terms.

What is the best way to contact the farm?

The easiest way is through our Contact Us page.

When contacting us about an animal, please include the animal's name or listing if you have one.
